I’ve taken some time off from writing as you may or may not have noticed. The photo above is yours truly as captured by photo sensation Sarah S. who was featured as a contestant on the Tall Ship Photo Contest last fall. The photo was taken on one of our last sailing weekends of the fall. Thanks Sarah!
The reason I titled the photo Reflections is because of where I’m at lately, it seems I’m at a cross roads of sorts. I recently injured my back so now I am looking at some life changes before it gets worse. Fortunately it is not permanent, but I will be off work for a few more days, in fact I’ve been off for a week already and this is the first time I felt well enough to do any thing constructive. Spinal disc herniation is no fun, and just a little bit scary too. It is moments such as these which leads us to consider that which is most important in our lives and to reflect on our priorities in life. As you may suspect at the very top of my priority list is sailing. I know, big surprise. What is much lower is how I earn a living. I of course need to earn a living, but the time is right to start thinking about careers which are a little easier on the old body. I’m no spring chicken, not that 46 is all that old, but I am noticing I do not rebound as quickly as I once did. So its career change 8.0 time.
I won’t bore my few readers with more of my whining, I am very, very lucky in many, many ways. I do have lots to post about our fall sailing adventures and am going to work on those right after I get done eating my lunch, “I’m starving” as funny man John Pinette likes to say.
