Photos from last weekend on Lake Pepin. We had some interesting sailing with the squall that came over the hills in the first photograph. I snapped the photo in between reefing the genoa and the main just before this came roaring over us. What a hoot! We were not quite sure what to expect, but what we got was torrential down pouring rain with wind up to 26 knots. The wind was no problem, the visibility however, left us with a little uncertainty though. Fortunately the storm only lasted maybe 10 or 15 minutes at most. Then as quick as it came, it was over.
After it passed we sailed over to Bogus Bay where we spent the night at anchor. Sunset was at 8:56pm and the moon rise was at 9:19pm so we were able to get some interesting lighting for the moon photo. As an aside all photos are presented as photographed, no digital enhancing around here. Mama don’t allow no digital enhancing round here.
The next morning, yours truly, took this photo as we were remarking about how absolutely beautiful it is in the bluff region along the mighty Mississippi River. If I didn’t know better I would think this photo came from some exotic area far from home. If you’ll notice this shows the same point as the first photograph under much more relaxing conditions. Both days were wonderful in their own ways. This is why we love life on a sailboat, sometimes peaceful. Sometimes exciting. Always interesting.
