It is 57 degrees warmer in our refrigerator than it is outside as I sit here and write this this morning. BURR!!! Tomorrow however, will find us basking in the relative warmth of summer dreams at the annual Minneapolis Boat Show. Yea! We get to take a mid-winter hiatus and pretend it is summer once again as we stroll the booths, look at boats and think of happy sails to come.

I received an email from Nest Egg Marine the other day in which they indicated they will be bringing the Boat of the Year winning Catalina 355 to this years show. I am looking forward to seeing what that looks like up close. Our first sailboat was a Catalina as some may recall, and I do have a bit of a soft spot for them for some reason.

This year the show has added an old wooden boat area they are calling “Mahogany Bay” featuring boats built from 1900 to 1960. I imagine most if not all will not have a sail on board, but never the less we are looking forward to seeing the beautiful old gals.

Another feature new to this years show is the “Be a Diver” area, where folks can try scuba diving in a heated pool. Having never been diving, I may have to give it a try.

So as I keep an eye on the thermometer and attempt to will the garbage to take itself to the end of the driveway, a la “The Men Who Stare at Goats,” this frigid morning,  I have tomorrow to look forward to to keep the winter’s icy teeth from my aching old bones.
